Aberdeenshire taxis may soon be able to charge £100 for "unacceptable mess" left in the vehicle

New proposals which would see the soiling charge increased to £100 in Aberdeenshire licensed taxis could soon be implemented.

Aberdeenshire Council are currently running a survey covering a number of potential changes for the taxi and private hire sector, mainly fare and charge increases.

One of the listed proposals would give drivers the power to request a new soiling charge if they feel an "unacceptable mess" has been left in the vehicle by a passenger.

The current charge for leaving a mess in an Aberdeenshire taxi is £50.

People across the region have been asked to make their voices heard in the online survey ahead of plans to increase fares by 3%.
