A taxi driver who ‘abused his position of trust’ has been jailed for more than 9 years after raping a woman in Bradford.

Asad Khan, 55, admitted rape and theft at Bradford Crown court on 2 May.

It’s after an incident in the early hours of 1 January 2022.

On 5 July, at Bradford Crown Court, Khan was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months.

Khan was also told to sign the sex offenders register for life and given a sexual harm prevention order.

Detective Constable Rianne Woodham of Bradford District’s Safeguarding team said: “Khan had abused his position of trust as a taxi driver and took advantage of a vulnerable passenger.

“I would like to praise the courage and bravery of the victim for reporting this crime, I hope the sentence today gives her some closure and justice.

“Victims can be assured that specialist officers will always listen and fully investigate any reports of sexual offending and we continue to urge victims to come forward.”
