All 15 Wolverhampton private hire vehicles pass Liverpool tyre safety checks during Storm Boelo

All 15 Wolverhampton-licensed private hire vehicles (PHVs) inspected during a joint enforcement operation in Liverpool passed tyre safety checks, despite challenging weather conditions during Storm Boelo.
Compliance officers from City of Wolverhampton Council worked alongside Merseyside Police’s Roads Policing Unit on Saturday night as part of Tyre Safety Month, which runs throughout October.
The operation focused on Wolverhampton-licensed private hire vehicles operating in Liverpool, with officers examining tyre conditions to ensure vehicles met the required safety standards.
According to Wolverhampton Council’s Public Protection team, all 15 vehicles inspected passed, with officers reporting that the vehicles had excellent tyres fitted.
A City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection spokesperson said: “During Storm Boelo, Compliance Officers worked with our partner Merseyside Police Traffic on Saturday night in Liverpool as part of Tyre Safety Month. 15 Wolverhampton PHVs checked and all passed with flying colours with excellent tyres fitted.”
The results provide a positive outcome for Wolverhampton-licensed operators working outside their licensing authority’s area. The joint checks also demonstrate continued cooperation between licensing officers and police forces monitoring private hire vehicle safety across local authority boundaries.
