One of London’s largest taxi fleet owners, Ascott Cab Company, has announced it will be offering a rent free month this December for struggling cabbies.

The coronavirus pandemic has had a hugely detrimental impact on the capital’s taxi drivers who have struggled to find enough work to stay afloat.

Many drivers have had to hand back taxis to rental garages because they are simply unable to cover the running costs.

Now Ascotts has stepped in to announce the festive act of kindness to help drivers stay on the road and hopefully find enough fares for them to enjoy the Christmas period during this unprecedented year.

In a message released by the firm via their official Twitter account, Ascott has said: “Dear drivers, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you & your family a Merry Christmas & Happy new year.

”As from 1st December we will be giving free rent to all our rental drivers until Jan 4th then £100 per week until further notice.

”Hopefully this gives you some support over Christmas. Stay safe.”
