Appeal for witnesses after Weymouth taxi rank assault

Police officers are seeking witnesses after a taxi rank assault in Weymouth left one person injured.


Dorset Police are investigating the incident, which took place early on Sunday 5 May 2024, near the Bee Cars taxi rank on St. Edmund Street.

The attack occurred sometime between 1am and 4am. Reports indicate the victim suffered injuries to the face and body after being punched.


The man is described as large-build, approximately five feet nine inches tall, with short black hair. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Police Constable Andy Dickinson, Weymouth police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this assault and establish the full circumstances of how it happened.


“We know that it occurred during a busy time of the evening over a bank holiday weekend with many members of the public present, and we are keen for anyone who witnessed what happened who hasn’t already spoken to police to please come forward.”
