Bedford taxi driver dismissed and controller warned after ‘unacceptable’ incident

Local Bedford cab firm, A1 Cars, has addressed an ‘incident’ involving one of its customers by dismissing the driver and warning the cab controller.


A company spokesperson took to Facebook to confront the situation involving the conduct of both parties from their team.

According to the spokesperson, the actions of the driver involved were deemed ‘unacceptable’, leading to his dismissal from A1 Cars. Furthermore, the company has reported the driver to the licensing department at Bedford Borough Council.


In addition to the action taken against the driver, the A1 Cars Bedford spokesperson mentioned that the staff member at their office, who was involved in handling the incident, has been issued a formal warning.


The spokesperson expressed regret over the incident, whilst not revealing more detail of the exact issue. Emphasising their commitment to prevention, the company has pledged to undertake all necessary measures to avoid a recurrence of such an event.

The A1 Cars Bedford spokesperson said via Facebook: “We'd want to sincerely address the recent incident involving a customer and the conduct of the driver and controller.


“The driver's actions were unacceptable, and he has been dismissed and reported by A1 Cars to the licensing department at Bedford Borough Council, who have the authority to revoke his licence. The member of staff at our office has received a formal warning regarding the way the situation was handled, and will undergo further training to ensure they handle future situations with the utmost care and professionalism.


“We regret that this incident occurred and are committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure such an incident does not happen again.


“We pride ourselves on providing a safe, respectful, and reliable service for all passengers of A1 Cars.”
