blackcab.com has confirmed its passenger booking app is now live on both Android and Apple platforms, marking a key milestone in the relaunch of the commission-free taxi platform backed by Cabvision founder Lee DaCosta.
In a message to drivers, a blackcab.com spokesperson said: “Passenger App is now live for both Android and Apple. Please ensure you are online and give us the best support you can. Zero commission and don’t forget customer pays you directly by cash or card.”
The company also confirmed a major marketing push tied to the aviation sector. The spokesperson added: “Our marketing campaign with British Airways starts on 1st March and runs through until the end of the year. Our aim is to put as many passengers as we can in Black Cab’s.
“We’ll be advertising alongside premium brands, reinforcing the message to global travellers that the black cab is still No.1 for travel in London.”
Commission-free black cab platform launches on Android and Apple ahead of major airline partnership running through to year-end
The app is open exclusively to licensed London black cab drivers and operates under the regulated fare structure set by Transport for London TfL. There is no dynamic pricing and no additional booking fee applied to passengers. Drivers retain the full metered fare, with customers paying directly by cash or card.
The launch follows a phased onboarding process. Licensed drivers who previously signed up to Unify London were given early access to marketing opportunities on a first-come, first-served basis, with wider access opened to all London taxi drivers from 19 January.
blackcab.com emerged from the acquisition of Unify London Taxis in July 2025 by Lee DaCosta, founder of Cabvision Network Limited. At the time, DaCosta confirmed Unify would be relaunched under the blackcab.com brand, continuing its trade-only, commission-free model.
Unify was originally founded by Michael Harris with the stated aim of uniting the black cab trade and avoiding fee-based or surge-driven models. The refreshed platform maintains that position, positioning itself as an alternative to app-based operators that apply commission structures to retail work.
The advertising tie-up with British Airways signals a fresh focus on international and premium travellers, a segment long associated with London’s licensed taxi sector.
The blackcab.com platform is open to all licensed London taxi drivers and is run from their own mobile smart device.
