Cabbie amongst drivers issued Traffic Offence Reports during day of roadside checks in Manchester
A day of roadside checks by Greater Manchester Police highlighted a number of offences from regular drivers as well as those who drive for a living.
19 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were issued in total by the force's Traffic Unit, including one to a cab driver for driving a vehicle with a bald tyre.
The police operation, dubbed 'OpConsiderate', took place in Timperley on Wednesday 2 June.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police Traffic Unit said via their official Twitter account @gmptraffic: "19 Traffic Offence Reports issued today in Timperley this morning due to various traffic offences as part of #OpConsiderate with Traffic PCSO's and #TransportUnit, including this taxi driver on a bald tyre."
Road users can receive 3 penalty points for driving on a bald tyre. These points apply to each defective tyre, so if a driver is found with 4 defective tires, they could face up to 12 penalty points and a possible ban.
