Cabbie & two sons jailed for almost 30 years for drug and kidnapping offences in Bradford

Three men, one being a cabbie and the other two his sons, have been jailed following an investigation into a drugs conspiracy and kidnap.
Ahmed Butt, Haris Ali and cabbie Zulfiqar Ali, were sentenced on Thursday 23 December, at Bradford Crown Court to a total of 29 and a half years.
On 1 May, 2020, a 21-year-old man from Bradford was in his car in the Girlington area, when he was approached by two men who told him to get out of his vehicle.
He was then pushed into another vehicle and taken to a place where he was assaulted, before being driven to a further location where he was questioned about drugs being lost.
After he was further assaulted he was taken back to the Girlington area in a different vehicle and let go.
An investigation into the matter by Bradford District CID led to the recovery of approximately £28,000 worth of drugs and four men being charged with conspiracy to supply drugs and kidnap.
On 12 March this year, Haris Ali and Ahmed Butt pleaded guilty to kidnap and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, while Zulfiqar Ali pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
Matters against the fourth man, Atif Ayaz, were discontinued at court.
Haris Ali, aged 27, of Whitby Road, Bradford was jailed for 11 years, as was Ahmed Butt, aged 25, also of Whitby Road, Bradford.
Zulfiqar Ali, aged 45, also of Whitby Road, Bradford, was given seven and a half years.
Speaking after sentencing, Detective Constable Rebecca Manders of Bradford District CID, said: “The victim was put through a frightening ordeal and we hope the sentences his kidnappers have received today will be of some comfort to him.”
