Updated: Oct 12, 2022

Detectives are appealing for information following a robbery on a Kilmarnock taxi driver on Saturday 8 October 2022.

Around 10am, a 56-year-old male taxi driver was transporting two passengers in Ardbeg Avenue, Kilmarnock when the male passenger threatened him with a knife and stole a quantity of cash. The taxi driver was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

The male suspect is white, between 25 and 35 years of age, around 5ft 5inches in height, with a slim build. He was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, khaki face mask, a dark waterproof jacket and blue jeans.

The male was in the company of a woman who is also white, has fair hair, a slim build and aged between 30 and 40 years old.

Officers are continuing to gather any relevant CCTV from in and around the area.

Detective Sergeant Peter Sweeney said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident to think back and consider if they noticed anything. The taxi is a blue Skoda and you may have seen it and not realised a crime was taking place. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, I would urge them to contact us. It’s imperative we trace these people.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1052 of 8 October, 2022.
