A Liverpool licensed private hire vehicle (PHV) was found operating with a severely worn tyre, despite prior warnings and an earlier MOT highlighting the issue as a 'dangerous defect'.

The alarming discovery was made on 30 January, and the tyre, described as 'super slick' and heavily worn, had been flagged during an earlier MOT inspection on 24 January. Astonishingly, the tyre remained unchanged, and the vehicle was soon back in operation, blatantly ignoring the safety concerns raised.

A Liverpool City Council Licensing spokesperson said: “Licensing Enforcement Officers discovered a Liverpool PHV operating with this illegal tyre. It wasn't as if the driver was unaware of it! The driver is to be reported for the offence.”
