A private hire vehicle carrying children on a school run was found operating with expired licence plates during a stop by Avon and Somerset Police.
PC Patrick Quinton, known as the Taxi Cop for Avon and Somerset Police, said the vehicle was no longer licensed at the time it was stopped.
Quinton said: “I stopped a PHV today to find its plates were expired and no longer licensed. Worryingly, it was on a school run with kids onboard. The driver and Operator have been referred to Licensing and Passenger Services for enforcement action.”
Licensing authorities require private hire vehicles to display valid plates confirming the vehicle has passed the relevant checks and remains authorised to carry passengers. Operating without a valid licence can result in enforcement action against both the driver and operator.

The case has now been referred to Licensing and Passenger Services, which could consider penalties ranging from suspension actions through to prosecution depending on the outcome of investigations.
