Neil Micklethwaite, Chief Operating Officer of CMAC Group, has been bestowed with the prestigious title of Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen. The historic "capping" ceremony was held at Carmen's Hall in Fleet Street, London.

The Worshipful Company of Carmen, established in 1582, represents the logistics and transport industries. They focus on road and rail freight, passenger transportation, and are one of the largest livery companies in the City of London. Since 1986, the company has been headed by HRH The Princess Royal.

The Worshipful Company of Carmen is comprised of influential industry figures, such as Peter Hendy, former chairman of Network Rail and current Commissioner of Transport for London. The company's purpose is to maintain the "traditions of fellowship, benevolence, civic pride, and commercial integrity, forged over five centuries".

One of the key objectives of the company is to develop transport education for public benefit. To achieve this goal, the company funds a museum and gallery open to the public and offers diverse educational courses and career guidance to people already working in the transportation industry as well as to those interested in embarking on a career within the field.

As a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen, Neil Micklethwaite has joined the ranks of a highly selective group of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and service to the transport and logistics industries. His installation serves to reinforce CMAC Group's position as the leading managed ground transport and accommodation specialist in the UK and Europe.

“I’m one of many people working in transport and logistics who believe the Worshipful Company of Carmen is one of our industry’s best kept secrets,” said Neil Micklethwaite.

“It does great work in so many different areas, whether that’s education and entertaining the public, nurturing the transport and logistics talent of the future, supporting our armed forces, providing vehicles and generators to war-torn Ukraine or highlighting the history, work and future of transport in a magnificent annual parade!

“I’m very proud and privileged to be part of an organisation which has never ceased to be true to its principles and continues to make a difference not only within our industry but also within our wider communities.”
