CMAC Group wins Transport for Wales taxi booking contract

Transport for Wales (TfW) has awarded CMAC Group the contract to manage taxi bookings across its network, following a competitive tender.
CMAC will act as the central platform connecting TfW with taxi and private-hire operators from 1 November 2026. The company already works across Wales in rail, aviation, public and private transport.
TfW said the service would simplify the way journeys are booked and managed by bringing them onto a single platform. The system is also expected to give the transport operator greater visibility of journeys.
CMAC’s supplier network will be used to source transport where and when it is needed. The contract covers connections with taxi and private-hire operators across the TfW network.
The partnership is intended to create opportunities for Welsh small and micro businesses by connecting local operators with larger-scale work. TfW said the arrangement would also support local jobs and firms.
CMAC is appointing a Wales-based contract manager to oversee day-to-day delivery. The company said directly employed staff would have access to free Welsh-language learning throughout the contract.
CMAC’s customer booking portal and app will be available in Welsh before the service becomes operational, in line with TfW’s Welsh Language Standards.
Ian Jeffrey, Director of Great British Rail Replacement, part of CMAC, says: “Our growth at CMAC has been driven by a commitment to enhancing the passenger experience and improving customer operations through our strong supplier relationships and advanced digital solutions.
“Being awarded a national contract by Transport for Wales is testament to CMAC’s continued track record of reliable delivery and trust within the sector, and we’re looking forward to supporting TfW with its network operations.”
Ben Clifford, Senior Project Manager, Transport for Wales, adds: “Transport for Wales is delighted to partner with CMAC. Their proven track record within the industry, combined with an innovative approach to service delivery, gives us confidence that this partnership will drive further improvements and enhancements to our taxi provision, supporting both our colleagues and customers across the network."
