A private hire vehicle (PHV) driver was handed six points and a fine after a near miss with a cyclist in Weston-super-Mare.
Avon and Somerset Roads Policing Unit shared details and images of the BMW minicab which nearly “wiped out” a cyclist according to police officers.
Images from 9 August showed a grey BMW, with a yellow PHV plate attached to the bumper, driving close to a cyclist on a roundabout.
The PHV driver was slapped with a £600 fine and given six penalty points.
An Avon and Somerset Roads Policing Unit spokesperson said: “Only the quick reactions of the cyclist prevented them from getting wiped out and potentially seriously injured by this taxi driver in Weston-super-Mare.
“The driver has accepted the 6 points and £200 fine.”
