‘Disqualification highly likely’ after police catch London minicab driver travelling at 127mph

A London licensed minicab was caught travelling at speeds of over 125mph by police officers on the M1 motorway today.
According to police sources a speed check was conducted on a private hire vehicle travelling into London at the 6A Junction of the M1.
Road police officers recorded the minicab travelling at a speed of 127mph before stopping the vehicle.
The male driver has since been reported for the offence and will also await further action from London licensing authority Transport for London (TfL).
Officers say “disqualification highly likely” as a result of the offence.
A spokesperson from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit, said via Twitter: “The owner of this Private Hire Vehicle was seen on the Southbound M1 at Junction 6A, travelling at Speed.
“A speed check completed and 127mph was recorded. The vehicle was stopped and driver reported for the offence.
“He has also been reported to TfL. Disqualification highly likely.”
