A joint operation between compliance officers from City of Wolverhampton Council, Liverpool City Council licensing teams and Merseyside Police traffic officers led to the seizure of a private hire vehicle in Liverpool last night.
According to a council spokesperson, the driver of the seized vehicle was disqualified from driving. The vehicle was not licensed by City of Wolverhampton Council.
The operation focused on checking the compliance of licensed vehicles operating in the area. Officers carried out checks on documentation and driver eligibility as part of the enforcement action.
The work is part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety standards in the private hire trade are maintained across regions.
A City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection spokesperson said yesterday: “Tonight, Compliance Officers are working in Liverpool with colleagues from Liverpool City Council Licensing and Merseyside Police Traffic carrying out compliance checks on licensed vehicles. So far the Police have seized a PHV (not a City of Wolverhampton Council PHV) as the driver is disqualified from driving!”
