Officers from North Yorkshire Police and City of York Council came together to check ‘dozens’ of taxi and private hire vehicles (PHVs) in the lead up to the festive period.

The enforcement action was part of Operation Walk which aims to ensure the safety of licensed vehicles in the York area.

The taxis and PHVs were checked over by specially trained licensing officers from City of York Council.

A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police said: “With more people using taxis, North Yorkshire Police and City of York Council are work together by engaging with taxi drivers on #OpWalk to ensure they maintain the safety of their vehicles within York.

“Dozens of vehicles were examined by specially trained officers from the Council.”
