Elderly cab driver takes multiple punches in shocking video captured by onlookers

Police are investigating an alleged assault on a cabbie in Birmingham as a shocking video showing the attack circulates on social media.

West Midlands Police confirmed they are aware of the footage which appears to show an elderly cab driver being attacked in broad daylight in front of onlookers.

The video, which has spread virally on social media platforms, shows the driver arguing with a man outside his blue A Cars taxi.

Audio contained in the footage appears to suggest the dispute was over payment of a fare, but this has yet to be confirmed.

In the video it shows the cab driver pulling at a bag being held by the man. The driver can be heard saying "just give me the money man", before being punched in the face multiple times.

The West Midlands Police said via social media: "Thank you. We are aware of this video and are investigating."
