Essex Police intercept container with stolen TfL licensed PHV boxed up ready for Dubai
Essex Police has successfully intercepted a container filled with stolen vehicles bound for Dubai, including at least one London licensed private hire vehicle (PHV).
The operation, which was said to have involved extensive research and development, led to the discovery of numerous stolen vehicles from the Essex and London areas. The owners of the stolen vehicles have been contacted, while investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
The Essex Police Stolen Vehicle Unit spokesperson revealed that all the recovered vehicles were stolen at the end of October.
One of the images shared by the police showed a Transport for London (TfL) licensed private hire vehicle, completely boxed up and ready to be smuggled out of the country.
An Essex Police Stolen Vehicle Unit spokesperson said: “Following research and development by Essex Police Stolen Vehicle Unit we intercepted a container destined for Dubai. Stolen vehicles from Essex and London areas were discovered, all stolen at the end of October. Owners will be informed. Enquiries ongoing.”
