Exel Technology Group launches Growth Fund to help operators switch to iCabbi dispatch platform

Exel Technology Group (ETGL), the exclusive UK distributor and support partner for iCabbi, has launched a new Growth Fund aimed at helping taxi and private hire operators overcome the financial barriers associated with changing dispatch software.
The ETGL Growth Fund will provide qualifying operators with up to three months of funded iCabbi software licences, reducing the upfront cost of migrating from an existing dispatch platform. The company said the initiative is intended to free up cash that businesses can instead invest in areas such as fleet growth, driver recruitment and customer service improvements while making the transition to a new system.
The launch comes as some operators review their technology providers amid growing industry discussion around platform ownership, operational independence and the management of business and ride data. ETGL said it has seen increased interest from fleets looking for independent dispatch software rather than platforms linked to larger ride-hailing businesses or major taxi operators.
Ben Cook, Sales Director at Exel Technology Group, said: “Over recent years, we’ve seen more and more dispatch platforms become owned by, or closely aligned with, large ride-hail businesses and major taxi operators. Understandably, that’s led to questions from fleets about independence and where their operational data ultimately sits.
“We’re increasingly speaking to operators who want to move to iCabbi because they value having a platform that’s focused on supporting their business, not one that’s owned by a potential competitor. The challenge is that switching platforms can be expensive, even when it’s the right long-term decision.”
Changing dispatch software can represent a significant investment, particularly for larger operators with extensive fleets and higher software licence requirements. ETGL said those costs can delay or prevent businesses from adopting new technology, even where there are operational benefits from doing so.
Cook added: “That’s exactly why we created the ETGL Growth Fund. We don’t believe operators should stay on a platform simply because the cost of moving is too high. By covering software licence costs during the transition, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers to switching and making it easier for operators to move to iCabbi, while continuing to invest in growing their own business.”
The amount of support available through the Growth Fund will vary according to the number of software licences required. Smaller operators may qualify for one month of funded licences, while larger fleets can access tailored funding packages of up to three months to support more complex migrations.
The initiative reflects the continued competition within the UK taxi and private hire dispatch software market, where operators are weighing technology capability, commercial costs and data governance when selecting long-term platform providers. ETGL said qualifying businesses interested in the Growth Fund can contact the company to discuss eligibility and the level of funding available.
