Female passenger allegedly knocked unconscious by Halifax taxi driver during heated altercation


West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Halifax on Saturday 14 March.


Between 2.20 and 2.30am, the victim was in a taxi driving along the A629 Keighley Road, between the junction of Moor Lane and Beechwood Road.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, and her partner were involved in an argument with the driver, and the victim was allegedly assaulted by the driver after getting out of the taxi.

She was knocked unconscious and was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries.


Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or the aftermath of the assault, or anyone who came to the aid of the victim, to come forward.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 13200133253.


TaxiPoint have approached the force to confirm whether the alleged driver holds a hackney carriage taxi licence or a private hire licence.
