Five London minicab drivers convicted of illegally plying for hire could face licensing action


Five London minicab drivers have been handed penalty points and fines after being convicted of illegally plying for hire and other offences in the capital.


All five men may face further action as Transport for London (TfL) consider their licences.

According to Metropolitan Police sources, Mr Ikkiswala was convicted by Thames Magistrates of plying for hire, accepting a booking and no insurance in Western Gateway, Newham.

He received 6 Penalty Points to his licence and £351 in fines and costs.


Mr Khan MD was convicted by Ealing Magistrates of plying for hire and no insurance in Uxbridge High Street, Hillingdon.

Khan received 8 Penalty Points and a further £385 in fines and costs.


Mr Bakar Siddique was convicted by Uxbridge Magistrates of plying for hire, accepting a booking and no insurance in Hillingdon.


He was handed a 12-month conditional discharge, 6 Penalty Points, plus £106 in fines and costs.


Mr Chow was convicted by Hendon Magistrates for plying for hire, no insurance and a defective tyre after being approached by Officers in the Westminster area.


He received a 6 month driving ban and £379 in fines and costs


Mr Ali was convicted by Highbury Corner Magistrates of plying for hire, accepting a booking and no insurance after being approached by officers outside Euston Station.


He was handed 8 Penalty Points and £374 in fines and costs.


According to police sources TfL will now consider all of the drivers’ licences.
