Uber has announced a further FOUR new cities and towns set to launch its fast expanding Local Cab offering.

Passengers in Stoke-on-Trent, Durham, North Tyneside and Corby will all be able to book a trip with a local operator via the Uber app.

In Corby Local Cab trips will be passed on to Corby Star Cars to fulfil, and all subsequent support will be provided by them. Other operators joining include Autocab Private Hire, Direct Cars, Pratts Taxis in the remaining three locations

The latest roll out of Uber’s Local Cab follows previous launches in over 40 locations across the UK, including nearby Northampton and Peterborough.

Uber’s app will integrate with Autocab’s iGo network, which has the potential to connect passengers with 80,000 private hire and taxi drivers in the UK. Local Cab is expanding quickly across the UK since its pilot in May 2021 was first launched.

Adrian Connery, Director at Corby Star Cars, said: “We look forward to making Local Cab available to the people of Corby. We’re making it quicker and easier for people to get around the town, connecting more passengers with taxi drivers via the Uber app. The partnership is also enabling us to provide further job opportunities to our drivers.”

Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK, said: “We were thrilled to launch Local Cab in Northampton last year – getting an operator on board in nearby Corby is the natural next step. This will help to maximise earnings opportunities for more drivers and provide passengers living across the Northamptonshire region with greater choice when booking a ride."
