Four private hire vehicles caught plying for hire in Liverpool pretending to be taxis

Four private hire vehicles were caught plying for hire in Liverpool pretending to be taxis at the weekend.

Liverpool City Council’s enforcement team found the four minicabs working illegally this weekend as part of their ongoing ‘Operation Inman’ clampdown.

Two of the private hire vehicles picking up passengers without a booking were licensed from Knowsley. The remaining two were Liverpool registered minicabs.

This latest enforcement comes following a further six private hire drivers found illegally plying for hire in Liverpool’s city centre in the lead up to Christmas on Friday 21 December.

This week officers also found two vehicles with defective tyres; one a Hackney Carriage vehicle, the other a private hire car.
