Four vehicles were handed immediate prohibitions or suspensions after a mammoth day of taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) checks in Bristol city centre.

Police officers, DVSA and Licensing Officers from Bristol and South Gloucestershire conducted 92 vehicle checks on Rupert Street in Bristol.

Compliance was overall ‘better’ than previous enforcement operations conducted, but four vehicles were taken off the road. Several other ‘minor issues’ were reported.

PC Patrick Quinton said: “We stopped and checked an amazing 92 vehicles. The compliance rates were much better this time, with 4 Immediate Prohibitions/Suspensions given and a number of notices for minor issues such as plates, badges and lights.”
