To support the International Red Cross (ICRC) relief efforts in the Turkish-Syrian border region, FREE NOW is expanding its in-app donation feature, which was launched in March 2022 to support Ukraine aid.

The devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have now claimed over 47,000 lives. More than 100,000 buildings are considered to be completely destroyed, and more than one million people in total have been affected by the events in the region.

The FREE NOW donation feature allows passengers across Europe to round-up the value of their ride to donate via the app in a quick and easy way, helping passengers contribute to a much-needed cause. With the support of its passengers, FREE NOW has already been able to donate over two million euros to the International Red Cross for use in Ukraine aid.

From now on, all funds collected through the feature will be donated to the crisis areas in Turkey and Syria, as well as continuing towards Ukraine aid. The ICRC ensures the aid reaches where it is needed most urgently.

Mariusz Zabrocki, FREE NOW UK General Manager, said: "We are all shocked and deeply saddened by the events that have occurred in Turkey and Syria. Our hearts go out to all those affected by the crisis, including the Turkish and Syrian families and communities here in the UK and among our drivers. By expanding our round-up donation feature, we hope to raise much-needed funds for ICRC with the support of our users, to help contribute as much as possible to the crisis relief efforts."

With the new fundraising campaign, FREE NOW complements the extensive fundraising activities of its shareholders. Mercedes-Benz Mobility donated one million euros to aid organisations in response to the tragic events in Turkey and Syria, and BMW also supports its long-standing partner UNICEF with financial contributions.
