Free trips worth up to £10,000 won by passenger of Uber’s BILLIONTH UK journey as driver wins car
Uber’s billionth UK trip has taken place in Portsmouth, less than a decade since Uber’s first UK trip in London.
The short trip was taken from Cosham to North End in Portsmouth. Uber will award the rider of the journey free Uber rides for up to the next ten years, worth £10,000. The driver, Cristian Pora has won a brand new Kia e-Niro 4 worth over £30,000.
Cristian, driver of the billionth trip, said: "It is brilliant to know I have made the historic billionth Uber trip in the UK. Being a driver has meant I’ve been fortunate enough to meet so many different people from all corners of the world, and no one day is the same. I have been driving with Uber since 2019 and I hope more riders will enjoy traveling with me in the years to come.”
Jamie Heywood, Uber’s Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, said: “We’re hugely proud to have reached one billion trips in the UK, this milestone is a testament to every amazing driver that has worked with Uber since our launch in the UK. This is just the beginning and we now look forward to the next billion trips, and our electric future.”
As Uber embarks on the next one billion trips its focus turns to being a fully electric platform in London by 2025 and all major European cities by 2030. Over 90 per cent of all new cars that join the platform are electric, and Uber is working with London boroughs to invest £5 million in charging points across the city, the company has said.
