Get hailing that taxi! Heathrow Express closes over busy Christmas period

Public travelling to London’s biggest airport will have to do so without the Heathrow Express train which will shut over the festive period.

There will be no Heathrow Express services between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminals between 24 December and 27 December.

On Christmas Day there will be no underground or bus services in London.

Licensed black cabs will be available to cover the service, without the risk of surge charging, to transport passengers to their destinations.

Ticket prices for the London Heathrow Express vary between £22-25 on the day of travel for a single. Return tickets are priced at £37. Some fares are reduced if purchased in advanced.

Fully licensed London taxis can fit up to six passengers and would cost approximately £75 for a journey in to central London from Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3. All taxis have card payment facilities and wheelchair access ramps.

Several taxi booking apps exist in London including FreeNow, Gett and Taxiapp.

Between 28 and 31 December, a limited service will begin to run every 30 minutes.
