Glasgow Taxis has formally recognised two of its longest-serving employees after Helen Harvey and Alison Adair reached half a century and four decades of service respectively, milestones rarely seen in the sector.
The pair were honoured at a staff event held at Partick Thistle’s Wyre venue at Firhill Stadium, where colleagues, family and friends gathered to acknowledge the scale of their contribution to the organisation.
Harvey has spent 50 years with the operator, while Adair marked 40 years. Both work in office-based roles and have become central figures within the company’s internal operations. Glasgow Taxis relies heavily on experienced administrative staff to support dispatch, manage driver liaison and maintain customer service functions, areas where long-term continuity remains valuable as operators adapt to ongoing digital, regulatory and market pressures.
More than 100 people attended the evening event, which featured speeches outlining the influence both women have had on day-to-day operations and on the wider workforce.

Glasgow Taxis chairman Dougie McPherson said: “These are almost unique achievements in this day and age, two amazing achievements by two special people. The turnout of so many people on the night shows just how loved and respected both Helen and Alison are and how Glasgow Taxis is very much a people-driven business, just one big family.
“It was great to see both Helen and Alison, briefly and modestly, take the limelight to hear how much we all appreciate what they have done for Glasgow Taxis as well as for the city and its people. The presentations of engraved trophies, vouchers, flowers, champagne and more were the very least we could do.
“On behalf of everyone who has been involved with Glasgow Taxis since 1975 and 1985, our sincere thanks go to both Helen and Alison for everything they have done to date, with the added bonus that they are showing no signs of stopping quite yet!”
