A woman from Glasgow has been prosecuted after being found driving a Milton Keynes City Council licensed private hire vehicle without holding the required private hire driver licence.
Milton Keynes City Council taxi enforcement officers were carrying out routine patrols in Wolverton on 18 October 2024 when they observed a council licensed private hire vehicle pull into a shopping area and approached the driver.
The driver, Fozia Noreen, was unable to produce a valid private hire driver badge when requested by officers at the scene.
A subsequent council investigation confirmed that Ms Noreen did not hold a private hire driver licence issued by Milton Keynes City Council and was also uninsured to drive the vehicle. The council said this posed a risk to passengers and other road users and amounted to misleading the public into believing she was an authorised private hire driver.

Ms Noreen pleaded guilty last week at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court to offences of acting as an unlicensed private hire driver and driving without insurance.
The court ordered her to pay £699 in fines and costs and imposed six penalty points on her driving licence, concluding the prosecution brought by the city council.
Cllr Mick Legg, Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services, said: “Anyone pretending to be a licensed private hire driver is committing a serious offence and putting the public at risk.
"Our licensing and enforcement teams work tirelessly to keep people safe, and we will not hesitate to take action against anyone who attempts to operate unlawfully.”
