A taxi driver from St Leonards on Sea has been charged following allegations of rape and sexual assault.
Sussex Police confirmed that a woman in her 30s reported being raped in her home after being driven back to the address on the night of 12 April. She stated the driver followed her inside and assaulted her. Officers arrested a suspect the following day.
Abdulhamid Alammar, 34, has been charged with rape and sexual assault by penetration. He also faces a separate charge of sexual assault by touching in connection with a different report made by another woman in 2023.
Alammar has been remanded in custody. He is due to appear in court on 13 May.
Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith, of East Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said: “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure all victims of rape and sexual assault are supported and receive the justice they deserve.
“Please report any crimes or incidents to us online, via 101 or by dialling 999 in an emergency. You will be heard, believed and supported.”
