Heathrow drivers told to pre-register for new taxi feeder system or risk losing access

Heathrow Airport is rolling out a new Taxi Feeder Management System (TFMS) and has confirmed that every driver must pre-register and complete onboarding before the deadline, or risk being locked out of the airport altogether.

Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association (LTDA) Airport Representative Suzanne Sullivan explained that the system is due to go live on 1 October 2025, with pre-registration already open since 11 August. Support booths for onboarding opened on 18 August and will remain available until 30 September, before the switchover takes place.

Sullivan set out the key message in her latest TAXI Magazine column: “Registration is mandatory. No registration means no access. Every working driver at Heathrow must complete pre-registration and onboarding by 11 February 2026. Any driver not registered by then will need to go on the waiting list.” The waiting list is already lengthy, with 1,475 drivers in the queue.

The new system will require all drivers to first register online. They must create an account with their name, email and password, then activate the account using the link sent to their inbox. Sullivan warned that many activation emails are going to spam folders, so drivers need to check carefully. Once activated, drivers must complete all mandatory information fields. This includes “State/Province”, which simply means the area where a driver lives, such as London, Surrey, Kent or Berkshire.

She also highlighted technical quirks in the registration system: “If you have a double-barrelled name or an apostrophe in your surname, you must omit the apostrophe or hyphen, or use a space instead, as the system does not accept these characters.”

After registering online, drivers must complete their onboarding in person by visiting the booth in Heathrow’s canteen between 6am and 10pm daily. They will need to bring their taxi bill and badge, and a photograph will be taken for identification.

The Nymble app will also form a central part of the new system. It is expected to be available for download two weeks before the TFMS goes live. Through the app, drivers will top up their accounts and manage daily operations at the feeder park. Heathrow has confirmed that minimum phone requirements are iOS 15 or newer (iPhone 6s or later) or Android 12 or newer (Galaxy S20 or later).

Sullivan also reminded drivers to hold onto their existing tags and boosters until further notice, as they will still be needed until the switchover is complete. She stressed that there is no need to overcrowd the onboarding booth: “Staff will process everyone, so there is no need to arrive all at once.”

The deadline for full registration is 11 February 2026. After that date, any driver not registered will be forced to join the waiting list. Heathrow has also stated that once the system is live, it will contact drivers who do not regularly use the airport after three to six months. Those drivers will then have two weeks to confirm if they intend to work at Heathrow again. Failure to respond could result in deactivation.

Sullivan closed by reminding cabbies: “It is imperative you respond to all communications from Heathrow to ensure they do not remove you from the system and you’re forced to join the waiting list.”
