A taxi driver in Manchester has been left seriously injured after a hit and run collision during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Greater Manchester Police Traffic posted a picture of the horrendous aftermath of the incident, showing the vehicle driven by the taxi driver completely wrecked.
The Tweet, read: 'Preston Rd, Standish in the early hours of Sunday. This motorist was hit by a driver who then fled the scene, leaving this driver trapped and seriously injured. D Relief RPU officers will make sure the offending driver answers for this horrific crash #RPUWest #XT #nonefortheroad.'
Firefighters attended the scene and cut the man free before he was taken to Royal Preston Hospital in an ambulance.
Manchester Evening News first reported that the driver, who worked for Chorley-based Coopers Taxis, had dropped a customer off in Wigan just minutes before the crash happened.
The driver suffered a broken leg, hip and back and remains in hospital.
