House brick thrown at passing Blackburn taxi causes damage and prompts police warning

Police are investigating after a house brick was thrown at a working taxi in the Blackburn area causing damage to the vehicle.


The incident happened on Saturday 8 April at the Roman Road and Fishmoor Drive junction. According to police sources no one was injured, but damage to the side of the taxi did occur.

Police say there have been previous reports of similar activity in the area and have urged parents to warn children of the dangers involved when throwing stones at moving vehicles.


A Blackburn and Darwin Police spokesperson said: “Earlier today a taxi was damaged on Roman Road at the Junction of Fishmoor Drive, around 17:00 hours. The taxi was travelling down Roman Road carrying a passenger when a large piece of house brick was thrown at the windscreen causing damage to the driver’s side, thankfully no one was injured.

“It’s believed the person involved was in a group of 4/5 teenagers, if you witnessed the incident or have any information, please contact 101 quoting log number 1095 of 8th April 2023.


“This is the second incident in two days, and we encourage parents to speak with their children and discourage this behaviour, please remind them of the dangers of throwing stones at passing vehicles.


“We will patrol this area over the weekend and offer reassurance to drivers and the local community.”
