Investigation underway after crash involving a “Skoda taxi” left two with serious injuries in Wigan

Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash in Wigan in the early hours of the morning.


Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Orrell Road in the Orrell area just before 1am on Sunday morning (27 June).

Emergency services attended and established that a Suzuki Swift and a taxi, a Skoda Superb, had been involved in a collision.


A man in his 50s has been taken to hospital in a serious condition where he remains.

A woman in her 50s was also taken to hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.


Orrell Road was temporarily closed in both directions while emergency services attended the scene. An investigation is now underway.


On Sunday morning at around 10am, part of Orrell Road between M58 and Bankes Avenue was still closed due to investigation work.
