The Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association (LTDA) will host a Taxi Academy introduction class later this month, offering prospective drivers an overview of how to begin training for the Knowledge of London.
The session is scheduled to take place on 25 April at 11:00am at Taxi House, located at 133 Great Suffolk Street, SE1. The event is open to all and is aimed at individuals considering a career in the capital’s black cab trade.
According to event details, the introduction class will provide attendees with information on the Taxi Academy programme and practical guidance on how to get started with the Knowledge, the rigorous qualification required to become a licensed London taxi driver.
The initiative comes as the trade continues efforts to attract new entrants amid ongoing concerns around driver numbers and the time required to complete the Knowledge. Industry groups have increasingly focused on structured training and early engagement to support candidates through the process.

The LTDA’s Taxi Academy has been positioned as a vital route into the profession, offering resources and guidance designed to help students progress through the various stages of qualification.
The event precedes a separate open day hosted by Sherbet London in collaboration with the LTDA on 29 April, highlighting a broader push across the sector to support both new applicants and recently qualified drivers entering the workforce.
