A night of enforcement by Liverpool City Council's (LCC) Licensing Team, has resulted in a number of private hire drivers charged with a number of offences.

Among the offences were drivers operating in unlicensed vehicles, illegal tyres and failure to wear identification badges.

LCC used their official Twitter account to highlight the offences, saying: "A number of phv vehicles checked last night resulting in a number of drivers having action taken against them for various offences, including, unlicensed vehicles, failing to have their identification badges and an illegal tyre."

The action was met with praise by members of the public, who wrote in reply: "Well done to the LCC Licensing team. Keep up the good work."

Another wrote: "Well done, credit where credits due. Have you took it to the next stage and contacted the operators who are breaking there licensing laws by giving work to these vehicles without checking their records themselves?"
