LEAP24 has opened a four-bay ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging station near Heathrow Airport, targeting taxi and private-hire drivers seeking to reduce charging downtime.

The new facility, at 60 New Road in Harlington, is located minutes from Terminals 2 and 3. Each bay provides charging at up to 200kW. LEAP24 said it is now the only charging network operating ultra-rapid sites within seven minutes of both Heathrow and London City Airport.

The operator has worked with Uber to add the Heathrow site to the platform’s airport waiting area, allowing drivers to charge while managing trips from the airport.

Drivers using a LEAP24 Partner Card will pay 54p per kWh during the day and 45p per kWh between 10pm and 7am. The standard tariff is 69p per kWh. LEAP24 said no separate site-access or parking fee applies.

John Leddin, UK Country Head at LEAP24, said: “We understand what matters to drivers who rely on their vehicles for their livelihood; convenient locations, fast charging and fair, transparent pricing. That’s what we’re working to deliver across London.”

Payment is available by contactless bank card, the LEAP24 app and major charge cards. The operator said all electricity supplied through its network comes from wind and solar sources.
