Leicestershire Police calls for help from Uber driver who may have witnessed cyclist death

The 24-year-old man was riding on the pavement in Briton Street just after 2.05am on Thursday 10 June when he came off a bike and sustained an injury to his head.

Police sources say no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The man was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary and later transferred to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he subsequently died on Sunday evening 13 June.

From enquiries conducted at the scene, it’s believed there were a number of people in the area at the time and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or captured the incident on video recording equipment.

In particular, officers would like to speak to the driver of a white Hyundai i10, possibly an Uber vehicle, which was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact 101, quoting incident number 186 of 12 June.
