A London-based black cab retailer has launched a diesel taxi scrappage scheme to support the continued shift towards electric vehicles in the capital.
LEVC Brewery Road is offering a £5,000 discount on a new electric TX taxi when any diesel vehicle is traded in. The scheme is aimed at speeding up the transition of the city’s black cab fleet away from diesel.
The offer applies to the latest TX model and is open to 25 drivers on a first come, first served basis. It also includes taxi drivers from outside the London licensing area.
The retailer says the deal helps drivers switch to a modern, purpose-built electric taxi that provides improved comfort and accessibility. The TX comes with space for six passengers and is fitted with a fully integrated wheelchair ramp, allowing for forward-facing wheelchair access.
More than 60% of London’s licensed black cabs are now electrified, with over 9,000 TX models already on the roads. Since its launch in 2018, the TX taxi has travelled over one billion miles worldwide and is estimated to have saved more than 300,000,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions.
LEVC Brewery Road has been supplying London’s black cab drivers for nearly two decades. Located in Islington, near Kings Cross, the retailer supports taxi drivers with vehicle sales and servicing. For those new to electric taxis, the site offers guidance on home and work-based charging through its charge point partner, Bibby Energy Solutions.
Scott Diebelius, Head of Retail, LEVC Brewery Road, said: "This new initiative is designed to give drivers even more support in making the switch to a new TX electrified taxi. Customers can save a lot of money, both through reduced maintenance costs and by utilising LEVC's eCity powertrain technology, which offers up to 78 miles of pure electric range whilst completely eliminating range-anxiety. The team and I look forward to welcoming customers to Brewery Road and discussing the fantastic benefits of TX in more detail."
