City of Wolverhampton Council taxi compliance officers joined Derbyshire Police for a Friday night enforcement operation during Tyre Safety Month, identifying a vehicle with an exposed tyre.
A private hire driver is facing action from police and licensing authorities after an exposed tyre was discovered during a joint enforcement operation in Derbyshire.
City of Wolverhampton Council’s Taxi Compliance Team worked alongside Derbyshire Police on Friday night, 16 October, carrying out checks as part of the national Tyre Safety Month campaign.
The council’s Public Protection team confirmed that officers identified one exposed tyre during the operation, resulting in the driver facing consequences from both the police and council.
WV Public Protection said: “Our Taxi Compliance Team worked with our partner Derbyshire Police Friday night in Derbyshire as part of Tyre Safety Month.”
The authority added: “X1 exposed tire found resulting in one driver now facing consequences from Police & Council.”
The council has not disclosed the nature of the police action or any licensing sanctions being considered. It has also not confirmed how many vehicles were inspected or whether the affected driver was licensed by Wolverhampton.
The operation forms part of ongoing cross-authority enforcement activity aimed at maintaining vehicle safety standards among licensed taxi and private hire drivers operating across council boundaries.
