Lincoln minicab firm says ‘stark reminder’ as two drivers test positive for COVID-19

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

A Lincoln minicab firm has said it is a ‘stark reminder that we should not become complacent’ as two private hire drivers test positive for COVID-19.

Direct Cars confirmed the two cases today (Thursday) after positive results. The drivers are now isolating and the firm are helping the NHS as part of ‘track and trace’ guidelines set by the Government.

Both drivers are said to be well.

In a message posted on the firm’s social media page, they say: “Our procedures have enabled us to identify the issue quickly and minimise the risk to passengers.

“Both drivers stopped work and were tested at the first sign of showing symptoms and are isolating. As per Government guidelines, anyone they may have been in contact with, wll be contacted by NHS Test, Track and Trace.

“We have operated 24/7 throughout the pandemic and thankfully these are the first cases we have had.

“We are doubling down our safety measures, which are constantly being reviewed.

“We do NOT carry front seat passengers for the safety of our drivers and passengers.

“We rely on our passengers not using our services, if they are showing symptoms, although we realise that some people are Asymptomatic, which is a big challenge for us and the rest of the Country.

“This is a stark reminder that we should not become complacent.”
