Liverpool PHV firm purchases thousands of pounds worth of essentials to donate to local charities

Liverpool private hire firm, Alpha Taxis, is helping local charities by purchasing thousands of pounds worth of essentials from Home Bargains to donate for free.

Essential items, including food, baby wipes, nappies and toilet rolls, were offered to the minicab firm at warehouse prices - an offer the company snapped up.

Alpha Taxis announced the news via social media. The products have now been delivered to local charities who have struggled to fund such purchases during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Big Help Project took to Facebook, thanking the cab firm, saying: "Thank you so much to Alpha Taxis for all your incredible support to Knowsley Foodbank including donating bags that we can use to store our food parcels.

"If you can't leave the house to buy your shopping, they have made a contact-free delivery option to collect and deliver food, groceries, chemist items and so on. They have also installed plastic screens in their cars as an extra precaution."

Alpha Taxis, said: "Alpha recognises some members of our city community may struggle even more in this lockdown period. We have purchased lots of essential items required from Home Bargains at cost price and donated them to Everton in the Community LFC Foundation, The Big Help Project and St Andrew's Community Network. Everyone stay safe, we are all in this together."

The kind gesture didn't go unnoticed, as members of the public thanked all those involved. One social media user wrote: "Well done to Alpha Taxis and not forgetting Home Bargains for their generosity too."

Another wrote: "Thank you for the masks. Really appreciate it. You all do such great work."
