Liverpool Licensing Officers and Merseyside Police have reported high levels of compliance following a roadside enforcement operation targeting licensed taxi and private hire vehicles.
The joint operation was carried out to assess whether licensed drivers and vehicles were meeting the standards required under local licensing regulations. Checks typically focus on vehicle condition, licensing documentation, driver identification, insurance and other regulatory requirements.
According to Liverpool City Council Licensing, the outcome of the operation was largely positive, with officers finding only a small number of minor issues during inspections.
In a statement shared following the enforcement exercise, Liverpool Licensing said: “Liverpool Licensing Officers joined Merseyside Police on a roadside operation to check compliance across licensed vehicles and drivers. Overall compliance was good, with only a small number of minor issues identified and advice given to ensure these are promptly rectified.”
The findings are likely to be welcomed by both regulators and the trade, particularly as local authorities continue to increase compliance and enforcement activity to maintain public safety standards across the taxi and private hire sector.
