LOCAL CAB: Uber announce EIGHT new operators joining its platform this week

Updated: Sep 10, 2022

Uber announced a total of EIGHT new operators joining its Local Cab product this week in various cities and regions across the UK,

Anyone opening the Uber app in the additional regions can select the Local Cab option, alongside regular Uber-operated options like UberX and UberXL. Local Cab trips are passed to local operators to fulfil, and all subsequent customer support is provided by them.

Since the company’s pilot of Local Cab last year, the product has now launched in over 50 locations across the UK.

This week eight new operators joined the Uber platform in the following cities:

  • Lynch Private Hire - Salford

  • Action Cars & Taxis - Pontefract

  • Nottingham Cars - Nottingham

  • Rapid Private Hire - Darwen

  • Streamline Taxis - York

  • Eccleshill Premier Taxis - Bradford

  • A1 Taxis - Hinckley

  • Handsome Cabs - Lincoln

Habib Ali, Managing Director at Nottingham Cars, said: “We look forward to making Local Cab available to more people across Nottingham. We feel that now, more than ever, a product like Local Cab is needed – with demand for taxis continuing to rise and passengers in need of more options.

“We’re making it quicker and easier for people to get around Nottingham, connecting more passengers with taxi drivers via the Uber app.

“The partnership with Uber is also enabling us to provide further job opportunities to our drivers and we hope it will attract new recruits to join our fleet.”

Talking about Nottingham, Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK, said: “Nottingham is one of a growing number of towns and cities in England where riders can access both UberX and Local Cab in the same app. This will help maximise earnings opportunities for drivers while giving passengers in Nottingham more choice, meaning that everyone will benefit. We’re looking forward to extending Local Cab in more UK towns and cities soon."
