London minicab seized by police for having no insurance and illegal tyre

A London private hire driver has been reported by police and had their vehicle seized today after failing roadside checks.

Police checks were carried out today on a silver Vauxhall Transport for London (TfL) private hire vehicle by the Met Police ’Cabs Unit’.

During the checks police officers found the vehicle to have no insurance of any kind and an illegal bald tyre. Images shared by the police on social media show the tyre depth gauges flush with the tyre tread.

Officers confirmed that there were no passengers in the vehicle at the time the vehicle was stopped in Southwark, south London.

As a result of the offences the minicab vehicle was seized by the police and the driver reported.

A spokesperson from the Met Police Roads and Transport Command, said: “Cabsunit stopped this @TfLTPH PHV in @MPSSouthwark checks revealed it had a bald tyre and no insurance of any kind.
