A licensed London taxi driver has admitted using his black cab to run a drug supply operation across the capital.
Michael Redgrave, 57, pleaded guilty at Inner London Crown Court to supplying cocaine.
Between March 2022 and July 2023, Redgrave operated as both a courier and dealer, moving cocaine across the City of London and nearby areas.
He was arrested outside St Pancras Station on 3 August 2023 following a targeted stop by the City of London Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team. Officers acted as part of a broader investigation into drug supply in the Square Mile.
During the investigation, police recovered mobile phones that revealed Redgrave had been regularly delivering drugs using his taxi.
GPS data confirmed that Redgrave’s cab had stopped at a number of known drug deal locations.
Detective Constable Matt Cooper, in the Serious Organised Crime Team at the City of London Police, said: “By using his position as a legitimate cabbie, Redgrave supplied drugs in the City thinking he would be able to evade police. Our extensive evidence proved vital in his guilty plea.
“The City of London Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team are taking action to disrupt and pursue those involved in the supply of Class A drugs on the streets of London.
“We continue to actively identify, investigate and prosecute all others attempting to do the same.”
