London taxi drivers have been told to “be ready” for the long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury after boxing figure Turki Alalshikh appeared to hint at plans surrounding the event expected later this year.
The comments came after promoters confirmed that Joshua and Fury are set to finally meet in a blockbuster fight scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The fight has been described by organisers as a “done deal”, ending years of speculation over whether Britain’s two biggest heavyweight stars would ever share a ring.
In a post published on X, Alalshikh directly addressed London’s taxi trade, writing: “My brothers drivers of London Taxi be ready for the 4th Quarter 2026 for big event, you will be my priority to be my guest to attend.”
He continued: “Make your vacation schedule for that day and let people walk … walking is good for their health.”

The remarks have already generated discussion within the taxi industry, with drivers anticipating priority ticket availability to the event should it take place in London.
The comments from Alalshikh also suggest London’s black cab trade could receive special recognition linked to the event. Alalshikh has in the past given the London taxi trade hundreds of tickets to drivers as a thank you for their ongoing service in the capital.
Earlier this week, Eddie Hearn confirmed agreements had been completed for the fight. Posting on social media, Hearn said: “Signed, sealed and delivered! AJ vs Fury is on!”
He added: “The biggest piece of business we’ve ever done but more importantly the one we’ve always wanted. Biggest year of AJ’s career coming up, the comeback is on.”
Ring Magazine also reported the fight was a “done deal” and would take place during “Q4, 2026”.
Before facing Fury, Joshua is expected to return to the ring on 25 July against Kristian Prenga in what is being viewed as a warm-up bout ahead of the headline clash later in the year.
