London taxi fleet extends rental payment freeze to help drivers struggling during COVID-19

One of London’s largest taxi rental companies has announced they will be extending their freeze on all rental payments until the start of June.

A spokesperson for Ascott Cab Company has said: “We would like to thank all the drivers who continue to support the trade, as well as our valuable NHS staff and Key Workers. You are all making an amazing contribution at such a critical time.

“We hope that you and your families are all staying safe and well. “Due to the ongoing situation, we will be EXTENDING THE CANCELLATION OF RENTAL PAYMENTS for our current fleet drivers, until 1st June 2020.

“Our WORKSHOP at Blackhorse Road remains OPEN, Monday to Friday from 8am to continue to support the trade. If you do not have an appointment but need to come down, please call ahead to check we have the necessary parts and staff available. “To help us protect our staff and customers, we ask that when you arrive at the garage you follow social distancing measures and keep 2 meters apart from other people. “As much valued customers, we remain committed to keeping you as updated and informed as we possibly can. The Ascott Family.”

The firm initially announced on 19 March that all rental costs were being cancelled until 1 May. The extension to the generous scheme will almost certainly ease some financial pressure on drivers who currently work taxis supplied by Ascott Cab Company during such uncertain times.
